Cameroon

In Cameroon, we work with the Foyer de l'Enfance Sainte Thérèse d'Obili orphanage in Yaoundé. Our main goal is to provide the children there with a high-quality education and thus help them on their way to self-sufficiency and future employment. Sponsorship takes the form of continuous financial support to develop an individual’s future.

FOYER DE L'ENFANCE SAINTE THÉRÈSE D'OBILI

The orphanage currently accommodates 36 children up to 14 years of age who lack a family support structure. The orphanage was founded in 2007, and is officially authorized by the Cameroonian government. The Sisters of Sainte Therese are both the founders of the orphanage and the providers of care for the children. An important complement to the orphanage is the Ecole Catholique Bilingue Notre Dame de la Résurrection school, which provides nursery and primary education with a special focus on the teaching of languages. We have chosen to work with this orphanage and school mainly because of their kind and warmhearted attitude toward the orphans as well as for their dedication to imparting a high-quality education.

Sponsorship

We are looking for sponsors for those children selected by the orphanage in Yaoundé. An annual donation of 26.000 CZK or its equivalent in USD/EUR provides the orphans with schooling, uniforms, supplies, textbooks, additional food, involvement in extracurricular activities, and health insurance for a whole year. In addition to their days spent in the classroom, the sponsored children in Cameroon also learn about the world through direct experience – we regularly organize educational trips to various places in Yaoundé or its surroundings. It is important to add that sponsored children remain in the care of the orphanage until they become self-reliant after high school or university.

Disclaimer:
The annual donation amount may slightly vary year-to-year due to exchange rate fluctuation, inflation, or change in bank transfer fees. Such modifications are, however, always discussed with each donor in advance.
